The D&R Group was formed when Derrick Robinson joined the fruit and vegetable business run by the Davison family in 1966.

The Davison family ran a family-owned fruit and vegetable business since the late 1800's but with their new partner on board the business expanded into an import & wholesale company with a chain of retail stores.

Davison & Robinson supplied many local hotels and catering concerns as well as providing a top-up service to ASDA supermarkets all over the north of England.

In the 1990's with supermarkets themselves gaining an increasing share of the fresh food market, the D&R Group diversified into a number of new areas.

Firstly The Garden Warehouse was established. This arm of the business is mainly responsible for the sourcing and import of top quality teak garden furniture, Mexican clay ovens and Italian Terracotta. Plants from all over the World are also a speciality, especially large palms, bay trees and box trees.

Following on from the success of The Garden Warehouse the D&R Group set up a fireworks division - trading as The Powder Keg. The Powder Keg is able to supply fireworks for events all year round from their Castleford warehouse, as well as specialists to organise safe and fun displays with larger ordinance.

Mr. Derrick Robinson retired from the business in the late 1990's and the company is now run by Peter and Andrew Robinson. They are assisted in this by a large and knowledgeable group of staff, some of whom have been with the company since the late 1960's - early 1970's.
